Can one take comfort in the goodness of God – especially in challenges, trials, and loss? Is it possible to go on, when all one has ever known is taken away in a few seconds? That is what happened to me when my husband of thirty-five years was killed in a sudden airplane crash. At one time, we lived halfway around the world where he flew as a missionary pilot, yet this accident happened down the hill from our home in Ohio.
People say God is good, all the time. I can tell you it is not a myth or nice sentiment – but the TRUTH. Through the loss of my husband and times of reflection looking back on our lives, I have found the goodness of God. It was there the whole time, but in my loss, I have learned to see more clearly God and His goodness. He IS good – it’s who He IS!
Job 42:5, “I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee.”
